The once-a-year-only race meeting at Strömsholm is one of the most international race days in Sweden and features the two most important jump races on the Scandinavian racing calendar: The Swedish Grand National and the Swedish Champion Hurdle. The racing takes place on the beautiful grounds of Österängen near Strömsholm Royal Castle on a Saturday in the middle of June and the meeting usually attracts the best Scandinavian National Hunt horses as well as a number of foreign runners.
One factor making the races at Strömsholm unique is that it is organized by volunteers, who are passionate about jumps racing and the tradition of racing at Strömsholm. In the autumn of 2015, Swedish jump racing was under threat, and the organisation was started in order to show support for jump racing in Sweden in general and the Swedish Grand National meeting in particular.
If you would like to become a member in Strömsholm Horseracing Association (Strömsholms Galoppsällskap) and thereby show your support for the Swedish jump racing and the races at Strömsholm, please send your name, address, phone, e-mail and year of birth to firstname.lastname@example.org. Membership is free of charge.
Welcome to the Swedish Grand National on the 11th of June 2016!
