The once-a-year-only race meeting at Strömsholm is one of the most international race days in Sweden.The top number of the day, the steeplechase Swedish Grand National, is the richest and most challenging jump race in Scandinavia. The runners of the 4500 meter race faces 16 fences of various kinds, some as testing as their Aintree equivalents.
The meeting usually attracts around 4,000 spectators, who also get to watch Scandinavia’s most prestigious hurdle race, the Swedish Champion Hurdle. Besides the two highlights, the card features another two jump races as well as five flat races and several pony races.
It is a busy and exciting day for the whole family. The meeting by the picturesque Strömsholm Castle is a folk festival and often described as one of the largest picnics in Sweden.
This year, the racing will take place on the 17th of June.
